Over the years, APC was my go-to brand. However, after two of my three UPSes had their batteries die, that all changed especially after buying new batteries &#8211; even generic replacements &#8211; was approaching the cost of a new UPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In searching eBay for the replacement batteries I stumbled across a <strong>Canadian<\/strong> (useful due to shipping, import duties when buying from the US) that was selling rerfubished Lenovo RT1.5kVA UPSes with new batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.pelleys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Lenovo-RT-1.5KVA-UPS-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1077\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.pelleys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Lenovo-RT-1.5KVA-UPS-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.pelleys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Lenovo-RT-1.5KVA-UPS-1-300x213.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.pelleys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Lenovo-RT-1.5KVA-UPS-1-768x545.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The RT1.5kVA also includes an SNMP network card so I no longer have to use USB connections and can easily have other devices like my pfSense firewall, Proxmox host and two Synology NASes &#8220;share&#8221; the UPS and not have to rely on some other device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I now have just under 30 minutes runtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"598\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.pelleys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Lenovo-RT-1.5KVA-screen.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1079\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.pelleys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Lenovo-RT-1.5KVA-screen.jpg 598w, https:\/\/blog.pelleys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Lenovo-RT-1.5KVA-screen-300x287.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 598px) 100vw, 598px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The last, just under 3-year-old APC UPS will now be reused for my ISP&#8217;s router and ONT.
