{"id":168,"date":"2012-05-12T13:09:32","date_gmt":"2012-05-12T16:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.pelleys.com\/?p=168"},"modified":"2012-05-12T13:09:32","modified_gmt":"2012-05-12T16:39:32","slug":"linux-mint-12-network-manager-and-openvpn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.pelleys.com\/?p=168","title":{"rendered":"Linux Mint 12, Network Manager and OpenVPN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been looking for how to set up OpenVPN with Network Manager under Linux Mint 12.I think that everyone has found that you cannot use the client.ovpn configuration file that OpenVPN.\u00a0 After much searching I found the following guide as for OpenVPN client setup:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>You can manually insert the configuration parameters in network-manager-openvpn<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"post_message_10489794\">\n<blockquote><p>First you need the certificates in separate files you get these by entering the following commands on the Access server console.<\/p>\n<p>1.cd <em><em>\/usr\/local\/openvpn_as\/scripts<\/em><\/em>2. .\/sacli -a ADMIN -o OUTPUT_DIRECTORY &#8211;cn COMMON_NAME get5<br \/>\nADMIN = openvpn access server administrator<br \/>\n-o = directory where you want the certificates stored<br \/>\n&#8211;cn = same as username, except for autologin profiles, append &#8220;_AUTOLOGIN&#8221; to the common name.<br \/>\n2. copy the certificates to a folder on your pc<br \/>\n3. click on the network manager, chose &#8220;VPN connections&#8221; &#8211;&gt; &#8220;configure VPN&#8221;<br \/>\n4. click add<br \/>\n5. choose Openvpn click create<br \/>\n6. type in your gateway eg. vpn.mydomain.com<br \/>\n7. in &#8220;type&#8221; choose &#8220;password with certificates (TLS)&#8221;<br \/>\n8. in &#8220;user name&#8221; type in your openvpn user name<br \/>\n9. in &#8220;user certificate&#8221; choose the <strong>client.crt<\/strong> file you got earlier<br \/>\n10. in &#8220;CA certificate&#8221; choose the <strong>ca.crt<\/strong> file you got earlier<br \/>\n11. in &#8220;private key&#8221; choose the <strong>client.key<\/strong> file you got earlier<br \/>\n12. click &#8220;Advanced&#8221;<br \/>\n13. set your port number (default 1194)<br \/>\n14. click on the &#8220;use LZO data compression&#8221;<br \/>\n15. select tap &#8220;TLS Authentication&#8221;<br \/>\n16. check the &#8220;Use additional authentication<br \/>\n17. in &#8220;key file&#8221;
